Organize A Coffee Cupboard or any cupboard with these tips to minimize clutter. See my tips on how I declutter our coffee cupboard with these simple organization tips.

My goal in our home is to slowly start getting organized without getting overwhelmed when I do it. I have anxiety and not having things organized can add to the anxiety. Our coffee cupboard was a cluttered mess and the perfect place to start.
Grabbing a cup of coffee is how I start my day and opening a cupboard that is a mess didn’t help my anxiety. So this summer I decided to declutter the coffee cupboard. These tips I used have helped to keep the cupboard organized since.
Organize A Coffee Cupboard Tips

This is my cluttered coffee cupboard before I cleaned and organized it. Starting my day off looking into this cupboard really got me anxious. Knowing when I opened this cupboard it didn’t give me a calm feeling, that meant something needed to change.
Why should I start my morning out by being overwhelmed when I open a kitchen cupboard. The best way for me to get started was to do a little research for organization tips and then utilize them. Here is what I came up with.
When I tacked this mess I keep three things in mind.
- Is it something I use Daily
- Is It Broken
- If It’s something I don’t use can I donate it.
I think with these three tips in mind it helped me make the decisions on what to keep easier. As I cleaned it became easier to decide if it was trash, keep, or donate. Now that this cupboard is organized it brings me a calming feeling when I open it.
To Keep, Donate, Or To Trash
Getting starting at organizing a coffee cupboard or any cupboard. I would recommend that having a trash bag handy for broken stuff. And also a basket or box for donation.
For my cupboard, I started on the bottom shelf. This shelf had already stored my everyday used items so it was easy to organize. Removing everything off of this shelf so I could wipe the inside down. As I took things out I kept in mind my three questions.
In most of my kitchen cupboards, I have shelf liners. The liners help to minimize the wear and tear of my cupboards and also makes cleaning them up easier. The shelf liner that I use is a padded one that just sits in the cupboard. If I wanted I could just pull it out and run it underwater to clean it.
After I wiped down the shelf it was time to start adding things back. As I added things back I replenished or changed out things. Like the coffee container needed more coffee and the plastic cup that I store my spoon in needed changing out.

This shelf now holds only a few of the most often cups, the coffee filters, the plastic cup with the spoon, and the coffee container.
Finishing Touches
Moving on to the second shelf, I will admit this shelf was a mess. We had multiple travel coffee mugs, bottles of vitamins/medicine everywhere, and unused coffee mugs. Once again the first thing I did was pull everything out, as I did I used my three tips. On this shelf, I was able to donate as well as trash things.
We don’t have little kids in our home so we keep all our vitamins and medicines in this cupboard. To help organize the vitamins and medicine I place them all in a clear basket. When I started to put things back into the cupboard I made sure to start with this basket.
This basket can easily be removed so we can see what we may need that’s in it. On the plus side, it keeps them all as well as the cupboard organized.
Like on the second shelf the third shelf I had items that I was able to donate. As well as a couple of trash items. After clearing this shelf off there wasn’t much left other than my tea container and the filters for the coffee maker.
One more tip I have is if it doesn’t belong in the cupboard you are working on then relocate it.

Now when I start my morning off with a cup of coffee I don’t feel overwhelmed by the mess. It was simple to get this cupboard organized and I see being able to use these tips in other cupboards. I hope you found some useful tips on how to organize a coffee cupboard or any cupboard.
