Christmas Decoration 2019 needed to be special for two little girls. A recent change in their family relationship had this father wanting to make new memories with his girls. I was blessed to help design their Christmas tree with them.

There is something about Christmas time that is so magical. Maybe it’s the inner child that still holds tight to the belief of Santa. Maybe it’s the glow of all the twinkle lights, maybe it’s the thrill of decorating the tree.
There are so many things that could be why the Christmas season is so special. I for one love this time of year and look forward to it all year long.
Last November my neighbor reach out to me, he was seeking my help. Knowing how much I loved Christmas he was wondering if I would help design his Christmas tree. He recently went through a divorce and wanted to make this Christmas special for his two little girls.
He asked if I would help come up with a theme to decorate the massive tree he had bought. After talking with him on his thoughts of colors we set out to shop with his little girls and my youngest in tow.
Christmas ~ 2019 was going to be an experience hopefully his little girls will never forget. They had so much fun shopping and picking out ornaments to go on their tree. For me, it was a blast watching the excitement on these little girls’ faces. Knowing that they were making memories that would last a lifetime.
Christmas ~ 2019 Tree Decorating With Ribbon

When talking with him about the colors he liked, he came up with a blue teal, silver, and white. I knew what stores to find everything he needed plus not overwhelm his little girls with shopping.
Hobby Lobby is one of my all-time favorite stores to shop as well as the At Home store. We were able to find everything he was looking for at a reasonable cost at these stores.
Once we had everything purchased for their tree it was time to start decorating it. He had a perlite tree so that saved us with adding lights. The first step was to show him how to add the ribbon onto the tree.
Taking the two types of ribbon and laying the thinner ribbon on top of the wider ribbon. Gathering the ends together and securing it with a green pipe cleaner. The pipe cleaner does two things, holds the ribbon onto the tree and helps to create a bubble effect.
Starting at the top of the tree we secured the pipe cleaner to the tree, we had decided that he wanted the ribbon to go at an angle down his tree. About every 6 inches or so we gathered the ribbon together and wrapped a pipe cleaner around it. Then secured the pipe cleaner to the desired place on the tree.
Continuing to do this down the tree at an angle. Leaving a tail at the end of the ribbon and cutting into a V angle. We repeated this 5 or 6 times, the length of the ribbon we used varied to the angle of the tree. The middle of the tree would take more ribbon than the top.
Christmas Tree Skirt

Once the ribbon was on it was time to add the rest of the decoration he and his girls picked out. There were varying sizes of bulbs in silver and the teal blue, fun silver picks, white flower picks, and some blue teal flowers that clipped on to the tree.
For the top of the tree, he used a star that he had. For the finishing touch to the tree itself, the girls got to throw fake snow onto the tree. They did a wonderful job making it snow on the tree and they loved throwing the “snow” in the house.
For the tree skirt, we did what I do for around my tree. We took quilt padding and placed it under the tree. Then placed some clear lights around the quilted padding. On top of the lights, we added white tulle. This gives under the tree like a snowy look.
Decorations Around The House

One of my favorite things about this experance was watching the girls pick out their stockings. The oldest was 5 decided she would go with a white stocking to match the rest of the Christmas decor.
However, the youngest was 3 at the time decided she wanted a pretty pink princess stocking. I believe it fits her personality well. To hold the stockings on the TV mantel the girls picked out these cute white deer stocking holders.
They also found white and silver deer along with clear deer to place on the bar countertop.

On top of the cupboards, we added more of the quit padding and tulle for a snowing effect. In the center of the cupboards, we added this tall deer that the girls fell in love with. In glass jars, we added snowy white picks for some added height.

I enjoyed being able to help design a tree for this little family and my hope is that these girls will never forget the experience of helping design it as well.
My prayer for these two little girls is that Christmas ~ 2019 will always hold a special place in their hearts. I know it sure will in mine.
