Have car sanitation kits to help fight germs this cold and flu season. Have hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and tissues handy in the car to help your family fight germs this season.

Here it is my little confession, I hate germs! Whew, that feels great to finally admit. No really, this year I may be pushing being classified as a germaphobic and I’m fine with that.
Whenever I go somewhere and I get home the first thing I have to do is wash my hands. No matter if I have been out in public or just in the car to pick the girls up from school. I feel like there are germs crawling all over my hands and I can’t stand it. This just might classify me as a germaphobe.
With running an in-home daycare when the kids were little it seemed like we were always fighting germs. Then the kids went off to school and learned about sharing germs with school friends. That’s when I started to make sure there was hand sanitizer in the car. Each time we got in the car from school or shopping I had the kids use the hand sanitizer.
As the kids got a little older we didn’t use the hand sanitizer as much as we once did, we just made sure to wash up really well when we got home. Then this global pandemic hit us and I started to rethink the not using hand sanitizer as much.
Putting Together Car Sanitation Kits

At the beginning of this global pandemic, I didn’t go anywhere. The first few weeks our family locked down as most others did. Then I needed to go to the grocery store and gasp I didn’t have any hand sanitizer in the car. That is also when I realized that along with toilet paper there was a shortage of hand sanitizer and disinfected wipes.
Digging in my supplies at home I was able to find some foam hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works to hold us over for a bit. This went straight to the car and gets used often now. So the mom car was all set, well sort of.
However, we have two other cars in our family that needed supplies and knew I would be stocking them up as well.
Thinking about all three of our vehicles and how I could help each of us fight germs this cold and flu season. I thought about making a car sanitation kits for each of the vehicles. Having a basket in each car stocked with hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and a box of tissues just made sense to me.
What Supplies Are Needed
So I set off to put together our sanitation kits. Knowing that the mom car hauls more kids around I made sure that this basket had more hand sanitizer than the other two. My girls are a little sensitive to smells so the Mrs. Meyers’s brand is perfect for them. It’s a basil scent and not overpowering, we all like that it’s a spray type sanitizer.
The baskets for the guys have two hand sanitizers, one is a gel and the other is a spray. Both are scentless so perfect for the guys.
Wanting to be able to wipe down the steering wheel or just to have wipes on hand was another one of my thoughts. This did set out to be a little bit of a challenge to find. But while we were doing summer clothes shopping we found some at TJ Max, now I’m seeing in my local grocery store.
Each basket would also have a box of tissues in them because you never know when you might need a tissue. My son had recently gotten contact lenses. Thinking it was a good idea to have an eye contact container in his car I added one to his basket. I also added contact solution to his basket but this might not stay for the winter.
Placing all the car sanitation supplies in a basket helps to keep everything handy and in one place. The baskets have little feet on the bottom which helps to keep the basket from sliding around in the car. These are such a great idea for helping fight germs while in the car.

These car sanitation kits are getting used quite frequently now that everyone is back to their normal schedules. Hoping that these sanitation kits inspired you to help fight germs this cold and flu season.
