At the beginning of each new year, I start to want to do this deep cleaning of the house. I have found that these 7 cleaning tools are essential to have in my home for cleaning. These essential cleaning tools make cleaning the home so much easier with less effort.
Most of the cleaning tools I am currently using in our home, and recommend. Otherwise, I have heard and read great things about some of the other tools I mention.

Cleaning Tools For Floors
Vacuums~ Investing in a good quality vacuum will allow you to clean multiple surfaces and areas. I have two Dyson’s that I love, and they are by far the best vacuum cleaners I have ever owned.
We have had the first Dyson for about 7 years now and it’s still running strong. This one I use on the carpets and sometimes I use it for the laminate floor.
The fact that all the attachments are right on the vacuum makes them easy to use. I can clean the furniture off then go to vacuum the floors. The key selling point for me was that it’s bagless and the filter is washable.
The only regret I have is that I didn’t the Dyson animal vacuum. We only had one cat at the time so I didn’t feel we needed the animal one. Otherwise, I love the Dyson we have.
When we finished the basement we decided to go with laminate flooring. Since we were adding more hard floors I decided that I would get a Dyson stick vacuum.
This one is pet-friendly and makes cleaning the hard floors so easy. It’s rechargeable so I do recommend getting a second or even a third battery if you have a lot of hard floors.
Not only is this one great for the hard floors but we use it on our stairs going to the third floor as well as down to the basement. I have also used this for a quick vacuuming of the furniture.
Moving on to mops~ I have heard a lot of good things about the O’Cedar spin mop. That the microfiber head is washable so this mopping system will last a while.
If you are looking to cut back on using cleaners there are some great steam mops out there. Shark genus is the one I have been using for a year now.
Cloths And Scrubbers

Microfiber cloths have been my go-to when washing windows. I also use them with a multi-purpose cleaner to wipe down the door handles and sink faucets throughout our home.
I have three types that I use, the grey one in the picture I use on our stainless steel appliances. Sometimes I just use water and sometimes I use a spray bottle filled with my homemade window cleaner.
The light blue one is for dusting and the dark blue ones I use for all other types of cleaning. These have helped me cut down on paper towel usage.

The most recent essential cleaning tool I found is the scrub daddy. These scrubbers are amazing and can be found just about anywhere.
When used in warm water they are more absorbent, soft, and compressible. In cold water, it is firm to help to remove stubborn stuck-on debris.
Each season they have cute shapes like this reindeer from Christmas. This one will be getting replaced with a red heart one for Valentine’s.
Great For The Bathroom
Another essential tool is a magic eraser. This simple tool can be used all over the house. My favorite is to use one to clean the shower. We have hard water, the magic eraser helps break up the hard water stains.
After spraying the shower with Method foaming cleaner I used the magic eraser to scrub the whole shower down. This product is great to use to clean many areas in the home and is a definite in my cleaning tool kit.
Let’s talk potty and a great tool to help reach the hard-to-reach place under the bowl. This is another one of the most recent essential cleaning tools I have found.
That would be the Rubbermaid power scrubber. This tool comes with multiple cleaning heads and is battery-operated. This could also be used to clean the sink drain or around the faucet.
Cleaners

Cleaners have to be the most essential tool next to using water. These are some of my favorite types of cleaners to use around our home.
Every night after I have wiped down the kitchen sink and stove I will come back in with Mrs. Meyer’s multi-surface cleaner. This is also the multi-purpose cleaner I use to clean the door handles as well as clean the front of the kitchen cupboards.
They have so many scents to choose from and also go along with the seasons. The apple cider one in the fall is my all-time favorite. I did a cleaning supplies shop with me video over on Youtube. Where I first picked up a couple of the method bathroom cleaners.
I have since changed completely over to all Method cleaners when it comes to the bathroom. As well as using the Method furniture polish, I like that it doesn’t leave a wax build-up on our furniture.
So these are the 7 essential cleaning tools I feel every home should have in their cleaning tool kits.
