Autumn is a wonderful time of year to get out as a family and go for an adventure. Fall offers cooler weather to enjoy many outdoor activities. We put together a list of fun family activities that you can do this fall with your family.
Go For a Hayride ~ Many local pumpkin patches offer horse-drawn hayrides. What a great way to make memories with your kids. By taking them on a horse-drawn hayride at a local pumpkin patch.
Go to a pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin. One of my favorite fall actives to do is go to a pumpkin patch and pick out pumpkins together as a family.

Attend A Fall Festive. Some small towns hold a fall festival with many outdoor activities to do.
Set up a hot cocoa bar. The last couple of years I have been setting up a hot cocoa bar for my girls to enjoy. This allows them to take a cup on their way to school. Or as a way to warm up after being outside in the cold.
Enjoy a cup of cider and a homemade donut. A nice glass of cold cider with a warm homemade donut sounds so delicious. Many of the local farms we have been to offer these treats to enjoy.
Fall Color Tour. Michigan is stunning in the fall with all the beautiful colors from the changing of the leaves. Take a drive around your state and enjoy the beautiful colors fall has to offer.
Make your favorite fall treats and enjoy around a toasty fire. Nothing says autumn to me like a nice bonfire with a tasty S’ mores treat.
Family Adventures

Carve pumpkins with funny faces and put a candle in them to lite them up at night. This has always been one of the highlights for our kids to do during the falls season. There are so many pumpkin carving patterns that make carving a pumpkin so easy to do.
Make a scarecrow. Scarecrows like pumpkins seem to be a staple in fall decor. So why not make up your own scarecrow with old clothes. Stuffed with newspaper or straw to make him plump.
Curl up and watch a couple of fall movies like. It’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown or Hocus Pocus are great ones to watch.

Corn Maze. Build your sense of direction by doing a corn maze. Kick it up a notch by doing it at night.
Paint pumpkins. Not into carving pumpkins then go ahead and paint on a silly face.
Visit a local farm. Take an adventure to a local farm. Whether it be a dairy farm or an apple farm there are many things to discover.
Head out to do some apple picking. While you are out at the pumpkin patch don’t forget to get some apples.
Go bobbing for apples. This would be a great idea for a family fun night.

Bundle up and get one last drive-in movie in for the season. Get one last drive-in movie in before the theater closes for the winter.
Fall is a great time to capture family pictures. Autumn offers so many beautiful colors so why not capture those in your family memories with pictures.

Rake leaves and jumping into them. Raking up leaves can be kind of borning. However, being able to jump into a great big pile makes it a little more enjoyable. Unleash that inner child and jump.
Bucket List

Go for a nature walk and pick up pinecones. Take your walk on a nature trail and look for pinecones. You can use pinecones in crafts or decorate your home with them.
Make and Eat caramel apples. Caramel apples to me are a must-have at least once during fall. Enjoy one while at a local fall festival or create your own at home.

Enjoy a seasonal beverage at your favorite coffee shop. Coffee shops are all around and they offer many twists on seasonal beverages. This is a great way to discover a new favorite type of beverage.
Have a chili cookoff. This is a great idea to do if you live in a neighborhood or even for tailgating. Have a little fun challenge with friends and enjoy some good eats.
Show your support for your local high school football team by attending a game or two. This is a great date night idea that is inexpensive. You never know you may be watching the next professional football player.
Find a fall craft or art fairs to attend. The fall season does seem to be the time of the year for craft and art fairs. Go explore a craft or art fair and find some new home decor.
Get crafty

Make bird feeders out of pinecones. This is a great activity to do with the little kids. Plus the birds will be more than thankful for the food.
Bake pinecones for fall or Christmas decorations. Pinecone add a nice touch to home decor for both the autumn as well as Christmas season.
Make homemade popcorn balls. Popcorn is a great treat to make any time of the year. So why not make it into a ball.
Go on a hunt for beautiful leaves then bring them home for a fun craft. This is such a great activity for kids to do. Let them explore and discover the many shapes of leaves.

Decorate for fall or Halloween inside or outside of your home. Add a simple fall wreath to your front door. Through a blanket on the back of the couch to curl up with. Or go all out with fall decorations.
Host a Thanksgiving Dinner. Invite your friends and family over and celebrate all that there is to be thankful for.
